For a moment once a year the world holds its breath. The hush of voices, traffic stills, and the screens dim. It is then that we remember.

Remembrance Day is not about victory, but the heavy cost of peace. The field where poppies grow from the wounds of the earth.

When the guns are silent and the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month causes a pause in a world too quick to forget, yet with that pause humanity made a vow to remember and try to do better.

Remembrance Day

On the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th hour, when that one minute of silence struck:

The field bloody bodies, weapons on the ground, no more bomb explosions, and no more gunshots

The families shed tears of sorrow. They feared that their hero was dead. The courageous survived but endured stupidity. They felt the pain of lovelessness

The feeling of joy. The fighting had ended, and peace had come

Poppies to help remind us and crosses for them on the ground

Remember them always, but especially on the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th hour

This is not just a day for soldiers, folded uniforms, and gleaming medals in drawers. It is for the loved ones who never saw their loved ones return home.

Remembrance is for the letters that arrived too late and the empty chairs at family tables. It is for the dreams that were tragically interrupted by the call of government duty.

Remembrance is for the peace keepers who still stand watch, for the hearts that carry unseen battles, for those who wear their scars like silent medals.

Above all remembrance is for us to see what they saw, feel what they felt. To be able to choose again and again compassion over conquest.

Always Remembered

Mistreated for their looks, speech or colour of their skin
Stolen form home, family and friends
Never returning thinking it was the end
Watching as loved ones where taken beaten and shot
We will always remember
We will never forget
How some paid the price by dismemberment
While others gave of their lives so we could live
From my family to theirs
We are so sorry for your loss,
but so grateful that we live
Knowing that your loved one is immortally etched in our souls
For without them our souls would be lost to despair, hatred and wrong, and evil would have achieved a great feat
We will always remember
We will never forget
How about you?
Did you remember to thank a veteran, for all that you have?
Home, family, and friends
Life, love, and liberty
Please, don’t forget on November 11th
No! Everyday thank a vet
Remembrance Day
Veteran’s Day
Never forgotten, never gone
Always here in our,
souls, hearts, and minds

So when the world falls still at the bugle’s sound remember it is gratitude and meaning that fills the air not silence or mourning because remembrance is about love not war. Love stood in the face of fear and fire so we might walk in peace.

During that two minutes of silence we are looking forward not back with memory as our compass and promise of a path of peace.

We Will Never Forget

We remember a time when we could not speak, read a book or have something to eat.
We will always remember, we will never forget
We remember a time when we were mistreated all for our looks, our speech or the colour of our skin
We will always remember, we will never forget
We remember a time when we were stolen from home, family, and friends never returning thinking it was the end
Made to do things we never want to do again
We will always remember, we will never forget
We remember a time when we had to watch as love ones were taken beaten, and shot
We will always remember. we will never forget
We remember the times when others came to secure our life, our happiness they gave us our freedom, we are now really blessed
We have a life, home, and family, all thanks to them
They stepped into our shoes and took the brutality
They did for us what we ourselves could not do, they fought for our life, our peace, love, and liberty
We will always remember, we will never forget
All the liberties that we enjoy in this life are all thanks to a veteran
They are not martyrs they are heroes they chose to standup and fight against tyranny
We will always remember how they could not speak, read a book, or even eat
We will never forget to thank a veteran
