Worldly Love

Worldly love or love of the world is a form of attachment to things within the world like homes, cars, boats, professional status, prized possessions, and relationships. These worldly attachments can cause us to become spiritually stunted meaning that we hurt our chances of spiritual advancement, and this is all for things that don’t last. Worldly love is more of an individuals pride which gives one a strong desire to have attention and praise from those within the world instead of work on oneself to overcome these desires and attentions or praises from those within the world and strive to attain a heightened perspective through being a more compassionate person that is more accepting of others, things, and situations. One needs to become more expensive with meditation and mindfulness one can focus on ones breathing and paying attention to ones body and what is around them and not focusing so much on what is happening with others or the world outside their control. One needs to be honest with themselves about what they truly cherish and need.
The bible states that to have a relationship with the world is to commit spiritual adultery choosing to act as an enemy to God and not a beloved family member. To let go of worldly love one must accept change, let go of burdens that halt personal growth and well being. One needs to relinquish negative emotions and attachments by using mindfulness techniques and embracing forgiveness, focusing on the present which will support emotional health and happiness.

Spiritual or unconditional love focuses on deeper values and connections it is not so concerned with material possessions, affections, attachments, or social status for things of this world. Worldly love is ones feelings, affections, interests, and pleasures in something or someone, and we all know that a persons feelings can easily be manipulated or changed based on their situation or circumstances. Worldly love once again is to prioritize worldly desires, possessions, and values over God and his will. Godly love is the type of love that is selfless, unconditional, and sacrificial. This type of love is transformative impacting both the giver and the receiver it is a love conducive of Gods character in our lives. A love that is all encompassing for everyone and everything.
